The urinary system produces, stores and eliminates urine - the fluid waste excreted by the kidneys. The urinary system includes kidneys, ureters, bladder, sphincter muscles, and the urethra. Adults eliminate about 1.5 liters of urine per day, depending on the amount of fluid consumed. Estimates indicate that diseases of the kidney and urinary tract account for approximately 830,000 deaths annually.
Kidney Stones are small, hard deposits that form inside your kidneys. A kidney stone may not cause symptoms until it moves around within your kidney or passes into the ureters. When stone moves, it causes, severe waves of pain in the side and back, lower abdomen and groin and frequent urge to urinate. Urine may be pink, red, cloudy or brown colored. Fever may be present. Urinary tract infection, low intake of fluids, high protein diet, high uric acid levels, hereditary factors, high doses of Vitamin D and certain diet programs increase the risk of kidney stone formation.

Though most of the patients respond to antibiotics, several people experience frequent UTIs, wherein Ayurveda and Homeopathy medicines can be of help.

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
Enlargement of Prostate gland. More than half of men in their sixties exhibit symptoms of benign prostatic hypertrophy. As men grow older, the prostate continues to grow which can result in urine flow obstruction. Changes in the balance of sex hormones might be another reason. Prostate gland enlargement symptoms include - weak urine stream, difficulty in starting urination, dribbling at the end of urination, frequent urination, straining while urinating, blood in the urine, urinary tract infection, etc. Having an enlarged prostate doesn't increase the risk of prostate cancer. Men with a total PSA level greater than 10ng/ml in the blood might be at risk; you just need to continue regular prostate exams.
